IMPORTANT: Your UCT supervisor or PI will need to motivate why you require access to UCT’s HPC. If during your period of usage of the UCTHPC your UCT supervisor or PI ceases to be an actively employed staff member at UCT your UCTHPC account will be suspended until another supporting UCT supervisor or PI can vouch for your third party account.
If you are collaborating in research at UCT and you require access to the UCT HPC cluster but are not a UCT affiliate you will need a supporting UCT supervisor or PI as well as a UCT third party account. You must ensure that the option to request a UCT email account is ticked. This email account is used to login to the service portal to request a HPC account, to connect to the UCT network via the VPN and to login to the cluster. All correspondence with third party account holders will be via their institutional email address.
Your UCT supervisor, PI or HOD will need to apply on your behalf via their departmental IT liaison.
The IT liaison will capture you as a visiting academic, it is important that your affiliated institutional email address is included in this process.
You can then login to the UCT service portal with your UCT email address and proceed with the HPC application form using your affiliated institutional email address in place of the UCT email address. You must list your UCT supervisor or PI in your application and include brief details of the collaboration.
