The UCT HPC team attended the Africa 5 EPIKH 2011 Site Administrator and Advanced Services workshop to prepare applications for deployment and assist with policies associated with application porting. The SAGrid Core Services team was given the task to install and configure the WMS Monitor. To give some background, the Workload Management System (WMS) comprises a set of Grid middleware components responsible for the distribution and management of tasks across Grid resources, in such a way that applications are conveniently, efficiently and effectively executed.
WMSMonitor is a monitoring tool collecting information from a cluster of distributed WMS instances about service status and Job Flow. Collected information is aggregated and presented exploiting two main keys: single WMS instance information and Virtual Organization (VO) information
More information about the developers can be found here.
We installed version 2.1 of the WMS monitor on http://srvslngrd010.uct.ac.za. You will require a INFN grid certificate to authenticate to view the details. The installation documentation is well written and easy to understand.
