Yesterday we received our 50th citation and this morning the HPC clusters exceeded 11 million CPU hours since the commencement of the HPC initiative at ICTS.
5 Years ago almost to the day the first UCT researcher submitted jobs to our HPC cluster. Back then we were running a hybrid Grid\HPC cluster and Grid jobs had already been running for several months, but this was the first time one of our users had independently submitted work to our HPC infrastructure. This academic received his Masters degree and went on to win the S2A3 Original Research Medal from the South African Association for the Advancement of Science, and we’d like to think that our HPC cluster, small as it was back then played some part in this. This is the second award winning paper from S2A3 in which our HPC cluster has been cited.
