Dear colleagues,
As part of the process of ongoing improvement, ICTS will be migrating the High-Performance Computing cluster from its current location to the new data centre. This will result in some downtime for the cluster.
How does this affect me?
The planned migration will have the following impact on users of the cluster:
- Friday 30th September: If you need to submit new jobs to the cluster, please do so before 5:00 p.m. on Friday 30th September. After this time, we will place the cluster into draining mode and no new jobs will be accepted.
- Sunday 02nd October: At 05:00 p.m. on Sunday 02nd October, all logins will be disabled, and all running jobs will be cancelled.
- Monday 03rd to Tuesday 04th October: At 09:30 a.m. on Monday 03rd October, the UCT High-Performance Computing cluster will be shut down as we migrate the services to a new data centre. We hope to have the cluster back up and running by the evening of Tuesday 04th October, shortly after which logins will be enabled and the workload management system will be re-enabled.
If you have any queries or concerns about the migration, please contact Andrew Lewis (andrew.lewis@uct.ac.za) or Timothy Carr (timothy.carr@uct.ac.za).
We thank you for your understanding while we conduct this important migration.
