We started off by investigating log files. The log files for LDAP
\ninformation on the NWU SiteBDII exists at \/var\/log\/bdii\/bdii-update.log  Herewith an extract from the log file:<\/p>\n

\n user identifier in which slapd processes are executed was set
\nto “root” and not “ldap”. You might find however in certain instances that
\n ownership permissions are not set on the respective directories and
\ncause services to fail, which was the case in NWU Site BDII. The user
\nidentifier used to be edgusr prior to ig_15 release. <\/p>\n
