We will keep this blog and our dashboard updated as we hear more.<\/p>\n<p>=====================<\/p>\n<pre>Dear All,\r\n\r\nWACS services were temporarily restored at 22h30 last evening [21\/01\/2106].  \r\n\r\nAn issue with a controller\/communication card at the WACS London PoP caused protection switching to fail.  In the interim, a temporary physical bypass of the affected equipment has taken place.  \r\n\r\nA further maintenance window will be scheduled to normalize this route.\r\n\r\nSEACOM remains up and stable as per the last update.\r\n\r\nAdvisories will take place as and when further information comes to light regarding WACS permanent restoration.\r\n\r\nKind Regards\r\nLynette Pretorius\r\nTENET Network Engineering\r\n\r\n(06h36, 22 January)<\/pre>\n<p>Dear All,<\/p>\n<p>SEACOM successfully restored the link at 18h45.<\/p>\n<p>WACS outage feedback remains the same. Because WACS is still down, the network is at risk of a similar failure.<\/p>\n<p>Further advisories will take place if the situation deteriorates back to a double international failure.<\/p>\n<p>Kind Regards<br \/>\nLynette Pretorius<br \/>\nTENET Network Engineering<\/p>\n<p>(19h14, 21 January)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dear All,<\/p>\n<p>SEACOM informed us at 18h22 that their fibre team is busy with link restoration. Subsea failures would have been much more worrying as they can take days, even weeks, to fix, whereas terrestrial failures are generally addressed within hours. We accordingly have reason to believe that service will be restored reasonably soon.
