Dear colleagues,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As part of the process of ongoing improvement, ICTS will be migrating the High-Performance Computing cluster from its current location to the new data centre. This will result in some downtime for the cluster.<\/span><\/p>\n

How does this affect me?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The planned migration will have the following impact on users of the cluster:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Friday 30<\/span><\/b>th<\/span><\/b>\u00a0September:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0If you need to submit new jobs to the cluster, please do so before\u00a0<\/span>5:00 p.m. on\u00a0Friday\u00a030<\/span><\/b>th<\/span><\/b>\u00a0September<\/span><\/b>. After this time, we will place the cluster into draining mode and no new jobs will be accepted.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Sunday 02<\/span><\/b>nd<\/span><\/b>\u00a0October:\u00a0<\/span><\/b>At\u00a0<\/span>05:00 p.m. on Sunday 02<\/span><\/b>nd<\/span><\/b>\u00a0October<\/span><\/b>, all logins will be disabled,\u00a0and all running jobs will be cancelled.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Monday 03<\/span><\/b>rd<\/span><\/b>\u00a0to\u00a0Tuesday\u00a004<\/span><\/b>th<\/span><\/b>\u00a0October:\u00a0<\/span><\/b>At\u00a0<\/span>09:30\u00a0a.m. on Monday 03<\/span><\/b>rd<\/span><\/b>\u00a0October<\/span><\/b>, the UCT High-Performance Computing cluster will be shut down as we migrate\u00a0the services to a new data centre. We hope to have the cluster back up and running by the evening of Tuesday 04<\/span>th<\/span>\u00a0October, shortly after which logins will be enabled and the workload management system will be re-enabled.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
