The Centre for High Performance Computing (CHPC), in partnership with International Business Machines (IBM) corporation will be conducting two advanced user training workshops about our BLUEGENE/P System. The first from 15 to 17 August 2012 at the CHPC offices in Cape Town, the second from 20 to 22 August 2012 at the CSIR Meraka Institute in Pretoria.
The workshops will cover the following topics:
- Overview of MPI, OpenMP and Hybrid Programming.
- Power and Performance trade-off.
- Performance Tuning and Optimization.
- Challenges in Petaflops Era.
- High Performance Computing tools.
- Optimization ideas.
The workshops will be presented by expert, Ganesan Narayanasamy, Senior HPC Development and Solution Manager: Systems Hardware Development of the IBM Systems and Technology Group. Ganesan has over 15 years of experience from IBM in India and the USA where he worked as a Technical Leader of a number of teams such as: High Availability Cluster, High Performance System Management and HPC Development.
